Industrial Glass Pack Lifting Systems

High-Capacity Glass Loading and Unloading Solutions

The industrial glass pack lifting system (scaricapacchi) is an essential equipment in the glass industry, specifically engineered to handle full packs of glass sheets with maximum safety and maneuverability. Designed for heavy-duty operations, this system ensures structural stability and precise control during all phases of loading, unloading, and internal warehouse transfers.

With a robust architecture and refined multi-level locking systems, these units provide a secure interface between overhead cranes and delicate glass packs.

Mechanical Architecture and Multi-Point Locking

The foundation of the lifting system is a high-resistance tubular steel frame, dimensioned to support payloads ranging from 3,000 kg to 6,000 kg. This structure is designed to adapt to various glass dimensions, including Half-Jumbo (3210×2600 mm) and Jumbo (6000×3300 mm) configurations.

To maintain load integrity and prevent accidental shifting, the equipment utilizes an articulated multi-point locking system:

Applications & Compliance

The GR series for glass pack lifting is indispensable for:

All units are fully CE certified and designed in full compliance with current safety directives, ensuring long-term reliability and operational risk reduction.

Operational Precision and Ergonomics

Ergonomic Adjustments:

All regulation handwheels and cranks are positioned at operator height, facilitating quick setup without unnecessary physical strain.

Optimal Visibility:

Optional upper-mounted control mirrors allow the operator to verify the rear grip and alignment, ensuring a secure hold even when the view is partially obstructed.

Universal Crane Interface:

The upper lifting eye (golfare) is adjustable to ensure perfect load balancing regardless of bundle weight distribution.

Simplified Disconnect (GR60AT)

The GR60AT version features a lowerable lifting eye, allowing the crane hook to be detached at ground level without requiring ladders or elevated platforms.

  • GR30A (Standard Capacity): Engineered for glass packs with a maximum dimension of 3300x2600 mm and a capacity of 3,000 kg. It is the industrial benchmark for standard warehouse movements.

  • GR60A (Jumbo Capacity): Designed for "Jumbo" glass formats up to 6000x3300 mm, with a doubled load capacity of 6,000 kg.

The GR series incorporates a dedicated thickness regulation wheel handle. This mechanical interface allows the operator to precisely calibrate the distance between the gripping brackets. This ensures that the clamping force is applied uniformly across the entire pack, regardless of the number of glass sheets, maintaining the center of gravity and preventing lateral slippage.

To optimize ergonomics and operational speed, the GR60A features a counterweight activation system. This engineering solution balances the mass of the upper arms, allowing the operator to adjust the upper brackets with minimal physical effort. This "weight-free" movement ensures that the height of the grip can be tailored to the specific height of the glass pack (down to a minimum of 2000 mm) without the need for auxiliary lifting tools.

Yes. Both models utilize side extendable-arm brackets. These arms can be moved laterally to accommodate the width of the glass, ensuring that the package is supported at its outer extremities. This configuration is vital for preventing structural bowing or stress concentrations in the glass sheets during the transition from the storage rack to the production line.

The equipment is provided with adjustable support feet. These must be calibrated to ensure the unloader remains perfectly level before engagement with the crane. While the GR series is robust, the Sage notes that the floor surface must be rated to withstand the combined weight of the equipment and the maximum load (up to 6,380 kg total for the GR60A) to prevent subsidence or instability during the unloading phase.

Every Schiavo glass package unloader is delivered with a CE Certificate and a comprehensive Manual of Use and Maintenance. These documents are essential for fulfilling industrial safety audits and ensuring that the equipment is operated within its engineered tolerances. Adherence to the maintenance schedule—particularly the inspection of the mechanical pivots and the integrity of the bracket linings—is mandatory for long-term operational reliability.
