Protective Covers for Vacuum Suction Cups

High-Performance Protective Covers for Glass Vacuum Lifters Suction Cups Eliminate Surface Contamination and Coating Damage in Automated Handling

Surface Protection

In the processing of low-emissivity glass, the interaction between the vacuum cup and the glass surface is a critical point for surface damage. The rubber of the vacuum cups can leave elastomer residue (ghost marks) or cause mechanical abrasion on the delicate Low-E coatings.

Schiavo protective covers act as an interface, made of a breathable technical material that prevents direct contact between the vacuum cup and the glass. This ensures the coating’s integrity is maintained throughout the entire handling process, with no marks left by the vacuum cup

Suction Cup Covers for low-e Glass Schiavo

The Schiavo Advantages Engineered Airflow

While standard covers often compromise vacuum strength, Schiavo technology optimizes the balance between protection and performance.

Their main function is to act as an interface between the rubber vacuum cup and the delicate low-emissivity glass surface. The rubber of the vacuum cups can leave “ghost marks” or residue that compromise the optical quality of the finished product. By using protective covers, direct contact between the vacuum cup rubber and the glass is prevented, eliminating the risk of surface contamination and mechanical scratching during handling.

Yes, protective covers reduce the rated capacity of the vacuum lifter. They prevent the hermetic adhesion of the vacuum cup to the glass, because the cover sits in between, between the vacuum cup and the glass. In the event of a pump interruption, the vacuum level drops very quickly, representing a potential hazard for the operator. Lift at most half of the maximum rated capacity indicated for the equipment.

The protective covers are compatible with the various vacuum cup diameters used across the Schiavo range, including the standard 290 mm vacuum cups found in the VM, GEBE and V series, as well as the larger 430 mm vacuum cups used in the high-capacity GEBI series. The protective covers can be used on any vacuum lifting equipment from any manufacturer.
